her fan problem is the fan speed resistor,go to u-pull=it and pull a bunch take glove box out, look dead center straight through down a little and one philips screw little metal rectangle pull that out, then replace with one from junkyard youre set, antenna i have no idea

Yeap the fan problem is the resistor pack for the blower motor. Just like Paul said. As for the radio I don't know but who the hell listens to AM anymore. Screw the AM radio.

My am sux too! Antenea is bad? what does that mean? I have a new fuba staff, but my base and wire are origional stock parts. Does that mean that i have to pull all of the wire and get a new base/wire or can i just get a new base and keep the wire and staff (i know that the fuba disconnects from the main run of wire a couple of inches off of the base)?

if the fuba you have in your car is the amplified one.because vws came with 2 fubas..a non amplified one...and an amplified one..if your AM is not working good..well it depends on where you life too..if your friends get good AM reception..its your antenna..the staff (mast) of the fuba is nothing..the actual antenna is the base...it grounds out on the chassis. change that.
Re: Friend asked me to help her fix her Jetta GLi (lucaq)

if her radio is aftermarket, then make sure that the blue lead in the car's harness is connected properly. It it's not hooked up the amp in the fuba will not get power. It's easily overlooked when a radio is installed.
someone correct me if i'm wrong but I think you need +ve 12v to the blue lead.
After I hooked mine up the AM I've been missing is back.

Re: Friend asked me to help her fix her Jetta GLi (MyBlackGti)

I have amplified and i connected that power wire to my Alpine antenea signal wire (the one that tells an automatic antenea to go up). I sometimes live in Parker Colorado home of the news radio 850 KOA tower which is one of the strongest in the nation. It is so strong that when i pick up a solid line phone i can hear the radio in the phone over the dialtone, when i turn up the volume on crappy powered speakers i can hear KOA!! Yet despite all of this radio power being crammed down my throat my toaster gets better recpetion at home than my car! It seems to me like my fuba has to be blocking AM signal in order to accomplish this task. I guess i will get a new base and see if it helps.

Re: Friend asked me to help her fix her Jetta GLi (mr Paul)

what does that run NEW? (The resistor pack, cant you just replace the resistors them selves?)
Re: Friend asked me to help her fix her Jetta GLi (HuDuVuDu)

Not sure about what one goes for new as I have never had to replace mine yet but I think that the resistors are sealed. There is one exposed resistor and then a large green thing that I assume has more resistor stuff in it next to the other resistor. Basiclly you are stuck replacing the whole resistor pack I believe.
