Told a couple buddies at work I bought my 2nd VW over the weekend, and that it's a Turbodeisel. They looked at me like I just got off of a space ship from Mars!

Non VW people just don't get it. Of course one guy drives a Camry and the other thinks real men drive 4x4 pickups, so go figure. I think it's awesome, more 'Dubs for the rest of us. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

I know what you mean. You say DIESEL and they think HUH?
I kind of like it that not everyone can appreciate the TDI.

LOL... Yeah, bummer is I've got to change screen names shortly and my msg count will go back to zero. My internet ISP is changing from the [email protected] to something else, and to change my forum notification e-mail, I've got to start a new acct. Poop. I dig my screen name. Time to put on the old thinkin' cap for a good one.

In my country about 35% of passenger cars are diesels and this number is ever increasing.
The TDI badge is a real fashion thing around here, everyone wants one! For instance a Golf 1.8T has absolutely no resail value compared to the TDI version, no one wants thirsty gassers..

Identify those friends as uneducated friends!

Bob, the majority of America just doesn't get it...don't worry, it leaves more for the people in the know!
<<Why are TDI owners labelled as ELITIST?? << DIESEL - ON !!

the reasone why people go "you drive a diesel" is lack of knowledge, the same people think the only type of fuel is gasoline so let them act stupid and feel stupid.. love tdis, i'm buying another one later

I live on rural Oregon coast - everywhere you look, of course, are trucks...and they are ALL Ford diesels. I've gotten nothing but positive responses re: my '02 TDI - I think the main problem for most "city folk" is they are remembering the GM diesel debacle of 70's and can't get past it.
Wait..... The local gas station made fun of my little "stinky diesel", so guess I'll be filling up elsewhere (maybe that's the problem -- because I'll be a more infrequent customer....)
Spongebob - your name rocks. You either have kids in the house, too, or you just appreciate the adult humor in that show.
Ever see the episode where Spongebob has a date with Sandy in her water-less house?
classic!

Yeah, I do have a kid, but I watch it with or without her!

Yes, plenty of laughs for adults in the show too. That's a good one - I don't need it, I don't need it.... I NEEEEEEEEED ITTTT!!!!
I'm liking this TDI thing, I've always been against the grain anyway. Even some 'Dubbers don't get it!

Have fun with your new baby!

Re: Friends think you're nuts driving a deisel? (Bird)

There is another thred on this site right now that I am being slammed into the ground on. I NEED ALL OF YOUR HELP!
A 16 year old kid started a thred in the New Beetle forum compairing a 1.8T to a TDI. He is not educated on this subject nor is any of the others leaving feedback. Go check it out.
The thred is called: not thoroughly impressed with the TDI
