here it goes,
My friend and I were riding in his Jetta GLX and out of nowhere it overheated. The coolant light started blinking, and the temp gage was over 240 degrees.

We have no idea what happened, or what is wrong, but its siiting on the side of the road right now.. I was thinking a coolant pump?

or somthing that makes the coolant flow through the radiator... GIVE me some FEEDBACK! thanks

this car continues to overheat every now and then. Not everytime he drives it though.. I guess the only thing to do is to bring it in and get it serviced..

thermostat. they stick closed, no coolant flows to the radiator, overheats.
replace it with a lowtemp thermo from parts4vws.com, done.

I ran into a problem similar to this. One place to check is the plastic junction that is mounted to the block. This piece has been known to crack and cause cooling problem because of a lack of pressure.

you'll definately want to replace the t-stat housing when you do the tstat, since more often than not, thats what breaks first.

He got a new thermostat and we put it in, changed the fluids, and its all better thanks for all your help guys!! http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
