This car needs some love. Love which I'm not interested in giving it.
I've got an offer for about 2000 bucks for the engine and transmission, so I'm floating it out there for 2500 to see if anyone wants it whole.
Its a tough sell, but I just don't have the time to go through it. I plan to buy a new TDI in the spring to replace it.
What it is:
ALH TDI (MK4) engine & transmission swap. Engine had 20k on it when I swapped it. Now has 70k on it.
It gets roughly 48MPG.
H&R Cup Kit
GLI Recaro front seats
Shroth 3 point harnesses
MK3 spindles and brakes up front
Rear disc conversion
Upsolute stage 2 chip
Powerplus .502 injectors
Ball joints, control arms, tie rods, wheel bearings, etc were all new when I did the swap.
What it needs:
Windshield
Brakes
Ebrake cables
Carpet
Headliner
Rear Seat
New gauge cluster (the old one has a short in it which causes it to beep constantly)
The body has some rust developing on the back by the VW logo and on the doors. This should be addressed soon while there's still solid metal there.
Also, the VNT in the turbo is sooted up and needs to be cleaned. This is not an uncommon problem with TDIs.
Make no mistake, this car is pretty rough. It needs some TLC and $ thrown at it. That being said, it's a blast to drive

Here it is at it's peak glory 2 years ago (Type As are obviously not included):

Re: (3dubssofar)

Transmission is the stock MK4 gearbox (not sure of the code). Whatever came in a 2001 TDI.
And yes, it runs and drives, just has a sticky VNT and no brake pads!
