HI i bought an antenna for my b3 a while ago and got it today. I took of the old one off, it basically crumbled away in my arm as i tried to take it off. That is not the problem though.
I am aware that the amp for the antenna is in the base of the mast. On the old antenna there is 2 plugs one coax and one 12v connection. On the new one there is only one (coax)
Does the new one have no amp os it incorporated in the plug?
thanx a millions for any input
P.S. the two antennas look identical except the plugs

You are correct. You bought the "16v" replacement antenna. YOu should have bought the amplified one. You have the looks of a fuba but wont get the the radio reception of a amplified one. sorry bro. try to return it and get the correct one.

Weird, mine is amplified, but it has no separate power wire going to it! The power is carried by the coax, the internal wire.. (I know its an amplified antenna, because I tried to connect and disconnect the power to it and see if it makes any difference - and it does!)
my 2c.

is there any way of rewiring the existing antenna plug to the old 2 prog plug

Re: Fuba antenna replacement. NEED HELP!! (Cupavi)

At first, I wired the power into the antenna coax cable, but then I bought a whole new Fuba antenna with a set (which included an adaptor).. It cost me $50 from http://www.vwparts.com - but it was on sale - which it isnt now..
Anyhow, all you have to do is have the 12vDC on the inside wire of the coax.. And make sure you fuse that power wire!
