Funny Noise From Turbo

Hey all!
I have a 2001 GTI 1.8t, and a problem. When ever the Turbo is boosting and i let off the gas, there seems to be this fluttering noise. It sounds like a hose is off and when the presure is released, it flutters around. That's my theory! There is no loss in power or anything. Could the blowoff valve (or hoses going to it) be to blame?
Anyone have a picture or something, i can't find the thing. Any ideas?
I have an appointment with the dealer, but i'd rather not go through the hassel of bringing it in ect...
Thx

i had the same type of noise almost like a hissing but it was only after i put a giac chip in awe told me it might be the diverter valve?

Sounds like the typical bad DV sound that is so comon with these cars. Get an aftermarket DV and all will be good.
Re: Funny Noise From Turbo (DaBlackJetta)

I should say that it's Just started doing this, and my car is stock
ps where is this valve

Re: Funny Noise From Turbo (ThunderGolf)

sounds like your dv is sticking closed. My greddy sounded like that when I had it adjusted to tight.

I had the very same thing happen but the curious thing is that it started happening exactly after taking my car into the dealership to have the front seat fixed (under warrenty) and a TDI midpipe put in. Perhaps a stupid question but could installing the TDI midpipe be the cause of the DV fluttering? Doesn't make sense to me other than an unfortunate coincidence. Everything's stock except for a Pipercross air filter and Remus muffler. Is this actually hurting the car in any way (there are no perfmormance losses or CEL)?
Thanks for any help.

Sounds normal to me though. I've heard lots of hi-performance turbo cars to this. Happens when you let go of the gas after boosting it pretty high. Happens to mine, and i've got a BMC CDA. I think you don't hear it when it's stock because the filter is more enclosed. Does everyone who hears that noise have an aftermarket intake btw?

My intake is stock, except for the pipercross air filter which didn't alter the sound one bit when I got it. And I only have to rev to not even 2500 rpms in order to create the sound so it's not like I'm boosting high. The noise only started directly after I had the TDI midpipe installed and, as far as I undestand it, that little upgrade should have no impact on sounds near the engine. The mechanics didn't even have to lift the hood! So is this just a big coincidence? Any harm being done until I can replace it (soon)? And what exactly does a bad dv sound like (searched but couldn't find)?
Thanks
