I tried to start the car this Wednesday night...but just can't turn the engine on! Then I called the 24H road side assistance. They sent a tow truck and brought my car to the nearest dealer. The service guy told me it's the spark plugs. I checked out the service invoice and it says "found car is flooded ans spark plugs are fouled". Funny...I just park my car outside the house and it was raining that night and that's it. Does anyone of you had the similar experience?

More info...
How many miles on the car?
Any symptoms prior to the car not starting (hesitation, check engine light, etc.)?

Nothing happened prior to the problem...that's the funniest part. No check engine lght, noting. The car ran well in the morning. I tried to trun on the engine at night. But the car kept cranking and cranking and nothign had happened. The mileage on my Jetta is 19000km....thank god it's still under warranty.

Hmm... this may sound stupid, but did they mean "flooded" as in too much gas pumped into the cylinders? Did you by any chance press the gas pedal once or twice before starting? If you depress your gas pedal, the pump will suck in too much gas for the sparks to ignite and you won't be able to start your engine. You will have to wait a few minutes for it to drain away and try again. That's how it worked on older cars.

Re: Funny Problem (IKE BORA)

you cant flood an efi engine by pressing the gas while the engine is off. no fuel will go because the injection system is off. not like a carbed engine where you need po prime and choke the engine. weird problem!

Re: Funny Problem (albula)

If you start your car in cold weather and don't let it warm a bit before turning it off you can flood your engine, this just happened to my '00 Passat V6. It's very common for this to happen to people who take their cars out of the garage to wash them, and dont let them run for a few minutes.
It has something to do with the Bosche fuel injection system using a very rich fuel mixture for cold weather starting.
Don't worry about it, just be sure to let your car run for a few minutes before shutting it off.
