I am thinking this might be the wrong place to post but here goes.....I just bought a radar/laser detector....and i bought a direct wiring kit to directly wire it to the fuse box....now on the detectors website it says to wire it to the fuse box inside the car....does anybody know where/how to do this properly with out killing my self =) .....oh and i have a 2007 Jetta Mk5 2.5

You can't kill yourself with 12VDC - you can't even feel it. ;)
(DC voltage doesn't start to become dangerous until you're up to 42VDC. You will not find this anywhere in your car.)

Your car, though, you can kill (or, at least, maim), if this is done wrong.
First things first: determine what's switched (turns off with key), and what's not.
If they're switched on your MkV (sorry, not sure if they are...), the cigarette lighter or power-socket circuit(s) is/are a great place to grab power for a radar detector - least risk to rest of vehicle.
Easy to check if they're switched, too - just plug something in, and turn the car off. ;)

yeah the ciggerette lighter comes on but the problem is findign the TAP for the fuse...cuz its not a big rectangular fuse nor is it a small one its a nice medium one lolol..usually when ****s in the middle u cant find it lol

Well, you don't have to tap the fuse directly. In fact, I highly recommend against using a fuse tap - they have a nasty habit of spreading the contact in the fusebox.

Scotchlocks or wire taps are rather preferred here - properly selected (read: correct one for the 'parent' wire size), and properly installed, either will do minimal damage to the existing wire. There is a reason, after all, that most radar hardwire kits come with quick taps. ;)
They're actually my preferred way of tapping a lighter circuit for power. Quick, simple, and effective.

In this case, I'd (generally) do what I need to do, to get to the lighter or charging socket's wires, and tap power there. Usually doesn't take all that long; and, you're absolutely certain this way that you'll grab the right line.

They should, I think.
Or, hit up your local auto parts store. Where there be wire, there also will be connectors, Scotchlocks, taps, and such.
