I am almost finished with my VR6 transplant, and was wondering if anyone knows if it is absolutley necessary that i replace the hood.

I have the original g60 hood, and dont know for sure yet that it will fit over the top of my new VR6 motor.....Should i get the VR hood?

Any comments, feal free.

If it doesn't fit, a shorter front engine mount should do the trick.. IIRC Vibratechniks is like 5mm shorter, also the VF if I'm not mistaken.

I've heard that to keep the G60 hood with a VR swap you need to modify the underside structure of the hood to make clearance.

Same here, VR swap and kept my g60 hood ( I prefer the g60 hood ). Lowered the rear mounts and I'm running a solid, shortended front mount, no prolems at all!

I'm probably biased but I would also say that the VR6 hood does look better. I guess it's personal but I think that it looks more aggresive. I've also owned / own different A2's and they have the same hood so maybe its just different for me. This is one of the 'Corrado owner' things as I would imagine few other people even notice the small details like this.
Cheers, Dennis

Re: (Insane_VR6)

I agree with you insane VR6....the VR6 hood is very aggressive looking....but i would like to keep it quiet..aka: sleeper.
The G60 hood flows better with the body lines though.
definatley a rock and a hard place.
