The new search engine sucks elephant ballz and I remember there used to be a thread that showed a very simple way to remove it, but of course now that I need it, its nowhere to be found. I already posted a thread on vwdiesel.net and the best response was to remove the whole fuel filler neck and id rather not have to do that.

Whats the easiest way to remove the restrictor?

i think its welded or soldered in

Look inside the filler hole, there is a rivot.
The easiest way is to chisel the rivot out.

The whole area will break free,
I think I took some snippers to it,
to fit it out the hole.

You can see the rivot hole in the restrictor.

sweet! exactly what im looking for. did you have to remove the fuel filler neck or were you able to do it while it was in the car still?
