I hate when ppl ask why would you do something...Why would you want to do this?
It's basically the same thing!
Gen.5 diff is slightly lighter only.
They work in the same way, which is by sw and sensor inputs to lock the Haldex clutch.
Both systems are proactive to prevent slip and lose of traction.
Gen.4 you can buy haldex controller that gives more active rear traction. Some cars have XDS on front axles.
Gen.5 cars have XDS+ on all 4 corners as standard.
Gen.2 needed slipp to activate lock of the Haldex diff!

Did not ask if it was a stupid thing. Merely because of my self interest!I hate when ppl ask why would you do something...
I have the parts already and they were practically free so would be nice to use them.
And I know the difference between the 2 systems...not what I asked.
I just know on mk7 they completely changed electronics and not sure if the new diff will work older abs and gateway
Necrobump, but did you ever work on this? I'm curious if the Gen 5 J492 can talk with the MK6 Bosch MED9.1 ECU or if that's not possible. The lighter weight and being able to change lockup with VCDS is a huge plus over gen 4.Anyone have experience with gen 5 haldex from MK7.
I want to use it in mk6. Pretty sure physically it will bolt up but just not sure electrically if it will communicate to the gateway and rest of the car.
Wondering if anyone has any ideas
