Long time GIAC and Exoticars customer, Sam Wood, ripped some fast times at the Sydney, Australia drags Wednesday night, in his 2016 Golf R on minimal mods and lower octane. Running a beta high boost GIAC tuned stage 2+ engine and DSG flash, a few bolt-ons and 98 RON plus a 20% mix of ethanol, Sam posted an 11.604 at 119.98 mph and an 11.548 at 120.14 mph. Vehicle weight with driver was measured at 1500 kg (3306.934 lb). Congrats to Sam and Exoticars for building one of the fastest Golf Rs in Australia!

- GIAC stage 2+ engine flash
- GIAC DSG flash
- CTS Turbo down pipe with 200cell high flow cat
- OEM cat back exhaust, including resonator
- CTS inter-cooler
- CTS turbo muffler delete
- CTS turbo intake elbow
- Forge Motorsport intake hose,

Is it safe to assume that this is without the interior?
Probably - Standard DSG Curb Weight is 3340 lb (1515 KG) and the car in that pic looks to weigh 1500 kg (3306.934 lb). So it looks like they had to strip a fair amount out of the car, run it with almost no fuel, have a derby jockey or ghost pilot the car, and fill the cabin with helium or unicorn farts.

The passenger and rear seats were taken out, but the weight includes the driver in the car.

Either something was removed from the car or the scale is wrong. Oh so mysterious.
Australian DSG R's tare weight is 1435kg according to Volkswagen.com.au, plus 18.72kg of fuel (assuming half tank/25L), less 13.5kg for 19" space saver and 3.5kg for foam surround & tools = 1436.72kg

As per pictures, he was using 17" denvers (9.52kg each) instead of 19" Cadiz (10.89kg each), saving 5.48kg. Not to mention the difference in weight between the 19" contis it came with cs whatever he was using.

1500.80kg - 1,431.24kg, allows for 69.56kg driver

Not so mysterious
