Re: glass sunroof for rado's (oneqwikg60)

Ok. You need to keep your hands clean and remain patient while you do this. It isn't hard, so all the more reason not to rush and screw somthing up stupid... like creasing your headliner.
Remove the trim piece at the back of the headliner... this will allow you to slide the headliner out the back, but do this all slowly as you don't want to damage it. You may need to loosen the B-pillar (where your seatbelts are) trim at the top, to allow more room for the liner to move. Once that is out, all you have is to start unscrewing the bolts to the sunroof and carefully remove it out the back of the car (this is a two person job... so you don't tear up the leather).
Really... you will see how this all goes together once you get it apart... it is very easy.
You want the passat sunroof assembly... the whole thing. That means, the glass, the track, the liner, and the motor is optional... as your original motor will work just fine. Visa versa, a motor that comes with your passat sunroof will plug into your stock harness as well.
Have fun, keep us posted.

Yeah, I second that. My neighbor did the swap and there was a noticable curve, but from afar it looks great. It slides and tilts just like the original.
Personally, I would stick to a Passat roof. Corrado-Club.com has a great write-up on the procedure. http://www.corrado-club.com/faq/detail_faq.CFM?FAQID=48

Actually it doesn't fit fine. I bought an SLC w/ a jetta glass roof and it sticks up about 3/8 ". I spent an afternoon to adjust the panel and shim the tracks down with lots of 6mm washers. Now the center part is flush but the sides are a bit low, but at least the wind isn't howling anymore. When I find a passat glass panel I'll probably swap it in.

I agree. I have the Jetta/Golf roof in mine... and although it works, I am not ultimately happy with it... I will eventually get a Passat roof in there. The fit MUCH better.

Re: glass sunroof for rado's (alphazero)

Ive done this 3 times. Email if you have questions.
Get a Passat glass roof + tracks from model yrs 93-96. I think 97 might also fit too, but not sure. I know 93-96 does. Dont buy the motor, unless yours is trashed - it wont plug into your harness - you would have to re-wire the harness. Your corrado motor will bolt into the passat moonroof with no problem.
As for process, I'll offer some tricks -
1. TEST THE REPLACEMENT MOONROOF BEFORE BUYING IT. Nothing sucks more than buying a broken one. Also pay particular attention to the plastic drain tubes and drip tray. They cannot be replaced and if cracked will leak onto your headliner and trash it.
2. Drop rear trim peice, C panel trim, loosen B pillar trim, remove A pillar trim, remove front trim across windshied - the windshield trim it the hardest and it will 50/50 break on you. Try and be gentle.
3. Its easier to slide the headliner fwd down the windshield to where the dash and windshield meet, then wiggle the back of it side to side out from the side channels. Less flexing, just avoid the rear view.
3. Once its all reinstalled, dont install the headliner right away. Drive it for a week or two, make sure its not leaking, rattling, wind noise, ect...
4. When re-installing C pillar trim, snap the little plastic bolt threads into their respective holes in the metal c-pillar, rather than trying to keep them on the trim panel and lining it all up. Much easier.

Re: glass sunroof for rado's (A2T)

How much should someone expect to pay for an assembly? Just out of insanity I called the dealership for prices...
97 Passat glass: $560
97 Passat headliner sliding cover thingy: $280
97 Passat sunroof track: $500
I love German cars.
