Re: GLI with AWD... (MyCarIsRatedR)

You can do it... you just need 10gs.... u need two differentials or something and then the 4motion stuff from the r32... you can do it its just hard and long. it will hurt ur acceleration but it more than worth it in the end!!

Its cheaper to just go buy an A4Q....

No offense but that is niether the point nor the question. This is somthing I've always wanted to do. I 've seen an APR stg3+ new beetle with r32 AWD once and it was sweet.

Go big, big turbo to make up the frictional loss of HP and an AWD system. F*****g A. Keep it stock height and stock RCs. Sleeper is the way to go on that project.

it will be easier to find a salvagable audi tt than an R32 to do the conversion.....its not worth the money but most likely i will be doin it within this year than do whatever floats ur boat http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Yessir it has been done, thus it's completely possible. I think it was the hottest thing I've seen in the MKIV/GTI337/20th/GLI forums besides Project X (I'm just counting really large scale mods).
If I ever came up with the cash..I'd be making a trip down to see Jeff and the crew @ Underground in Tampa because I'd want to do the full R32 swap. Then I'd VF stg 4 SC it (nothing against the turbo guys..just personal preference)..and live in MKIV bliss.
It'd take deep pockets though.

Where'd you hear this? I've yet to see a 1.8T 4-motion VW, so how is it 'more than worth it in the end'? Ever driven a 1.8T Quattro A4, they are slower than dog****!
VW released the 4-motion 24V VR6 Jetta in Europe, that engine has the necessary power-band to still move the car at a reasonable pace, but all the builds I've seen on here have been 4-motion AND 3.2L VR6 swaps from the .:R32. Undergroundvwparts did a GLI and a NeuBug like this, and boy were they HAWT! http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

So you're telling me that 450hp+ isn't going to turn over the tires. Check out http://store.bmftechnik.com/it...3T18T and tell me no. Since money is no object at this point in doing a build. The potential is there for a 1.8t but, alas, it would be more feasible and reasonable to go with a 6er that has a tranny that fits already.

He said you need 10g's and you can do it, and that its more than worth it in the end...the turbo kit you linked is $6400 not including the recommended hardware (Recommended are:
Catback Exhaust, Intercooler, Intake Manifold, Cold Air Intake, Clutch/flywheel combonation, pistons and rods (for higher hp) and a upgraded differential or anything not listed above. All of those products are availible through us as upgrades to your kit.), PLUS the AWD hardware, add installation, and that whole setup you are looking at is well over $20,000. I'm not saying that a 1.8T can't do the job, but for the price that the person I responded to laid of 10k, it can't.

Glad to see you looked. Broader horizens are good, but still narrow minded.
