Just call it the Camaro and make everybody happy.
I would look at this car... especially knowing that Holden does a good job building cars, and that the powerplant is damn nice.

I must say it looks great in yellow.I think it would make a fine GTO.

Simple- Commodore could be the new Malibu, Statesman/Caprice the new Impala/Caprice, Monaro the new Monte Carlo and the ute the new El Camino. And below that, slot in Corsa, Astra and Vectra from Europe. There, a complete range.
But personally, I think Holden won't have it their way this year as more customers realise that Ford has by and far the better car. The Holden is a good car, but the Ford is in many respects brilliant. Too bad the buying public hasn't seen it that way.

It looks like the 1st gen. Vectra-based Caliber sports coupe from these angles. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
Holden has more than enough to hold its own by calling it a Holden instead of other domestic brands on our shore. By injecting this new blood into GM's North America line-up, consumers will realize GM still knows how to produce good cars. I would like to see a Holden/SAAB/Alfa franchise.

Tom, as I would have said before, it's unlikely the Holden brand will be used outside Australia, New Zealand and some other markets where the Holden name is known. That's why they use the Chevrolet name for export markets, and naturally they'll use the Chevrolet name for NA if you're lucky to get them here. That's just the way things are.

They may be reasonably decent cars, but unfortunately they're still General Motors products, which automatically limits their potential. Even if they handle great and have excellent powerplants, I can only imagine how cheap the interiors are, if they're even remotely similar to other GM offerings. They're not even very nice looking, in my opinion. Even if they do import these cars, it's only a stop-gap measure, and I can't picture Chevy's hardcore all-American fans falling for American Muscle imported from Australia.

addictedtovw do you even know what potential is? You drive a Golf GLS and call this car limeted?
Truly is sad! You have no idea do you?
GM would do well for itself to sale these cars here. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

I wish I knew what they reeeaally mean when they say the crash protection of import cars are not up to US standards. It seems like about every damn car outside the States is of lesser protection than American market rides!
I find this strange, because US standards aren't that strenuous. I wonder if it's more just the lack of crash validation dollars and time required for certification is the real culprit.
Either way it sucks that the world can't commonize something so common like driving... by humans.

In my opinion..the norrmal Holden Monaro Cv8...looks the goods :
does away with the big ugly bodykit.
The pictures shown above are mainly of the HSV GTO versions.
There is a high chance that the normal monaro's will make it to the states according to the local press... since when they last brought a monaro over to check out market reaction, ur GM guys went nuts over it.. [well thats what our papers said anyway... and our press is notorious for giving locals pats on the back]
I think it is more likely the monaro will make it... over the ford. The new falcon looks fricken sweet on paper though... Can we say Turbo big capacity 6 cylinder? Low boost has set power at around 200 kw. Previous testing at higher boost has yielded numbers as high as 350kw! It looks like the next winner of the performance stakes ...is ford.
**oh and yes.. holdens have crappy interiors, lurid colour schemes...and rattly noises everywhere. HSV's included

We've been salivating at just the slither of hope of these cars for years now. Pretty much every Z28, Trans Am, and Corvette owner claims they'd buy a Holden in a heartbeat.
