I was reading an article on the original GTi and it says it had the golf-ball shift knob. So that's where it started. Sounds kind of cool.
Plus it's cheap. Are they still cool, or played out?
I'm talking about the black rubber Kamei one, not any of the machined aluminum ones.
Re: golf ball shift knob yes or no... (87GolfKart)
I used to have that all rubber one, and it was pretty sweet to be hones with you. Wasn't the greatest looker but it felt good. Then I went with a metal one for looks, and it did look better, but I kinda' liked the feeling of something a little softer and warmer in my hand (no pervy comments please). Then, I managed to score one of these bad boys right here, best of both worlds! http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

I read on their site that that knob will fit mk1 - 4 but what about this one?
it is at the top of the page...looks very similiar but does not say GTI on it...they don't say if it will fit mk2 or not, they just call it the mk4 jetta special edition or something...same price $90
Oh yeah, that's hot. I'm tempted to make this my wallpaper, that things beautiful. I'd almost be hesitant to put that in my car, I'd want it in some kinda' display case on the mantle or something

http://www.vwaftermarket.com/ look under shift knobs. With the trimsport ones, you can choose a cap on the golfball. I'll be looking at getting one with the 16v
