Next year the GTI celebrates its 40th anniversary in Europe. Volkswagen will mark this historic event with an anniversary model: the new Golf GTI Club Sport. Volkswagen will debut this near-production ready "concept" at Worthersee in Austria next week.

The Club Sport will have 195 kW / 265 hp (+ 35 hp compared to the Golf GTI Performance) and what Volkswagen is calling a temporarily "boost" function giving an additional "10 percent peak power" making this the strongest production GTI ever. The anniversary model will not only come with uprated power, but with a customized interior and more aggressive front and rear bumper treatments.

The design modifications include a completely new front bumper, new side skirts, a new roof spoiler and a specially developed rear diffuser. These body modifications also serve a purpose in creating more downforce, necessary with the added power and higher top speeds. There are no current plans to offer this model here but we'll continue to try and convince Volkswagen to offer it. We will be at Worthersee next week at the debut and will have photos and more then. Stay tuned...
