And, if you used straight 50 weight non-synthetic oil you would?.....noticed nothing behaving any differently.

So, you think producing millions of vehicles for dozens of countries with hundreds of variations, by workers that are not payed make design decisions is simple? All you have to remember with you job is "You want fries with that"....WTH VW? Several different stickers with conflicting info, conflicting with the owner's manual, etc. Is this really that complicated? Watch - there will be a letter in the mail informing you that you need to come to the dealer to have the "proper" sticker installed. It's coming.
And which vehicles do they use it for? You do know that VW has sold vehicles before 2019 right?I went to my local dealer and a service tech told me they use Castrol edge professional OE 5W-40. This oil is VW 501 01/502 00/505 00 based on my research.

The Golf R engine and the GTI engine are significantly different in structure......Does anyone know if there is any MECHANICAL difference to the engines from the GTI to the Golf R? Oil pump? Bearing sizes? Or did VW just put a stage 1 tune on a GTI motor? I don't get it.:banghead.....
Or....you could use the grade VW recommends, as, I'm sure you are not an oil lubrication engineer." In fact, the only major difference between 5w30 and 5w40 is the viscosity in warmer temperatures. This makes the 5w30 better suited for colder temperatures and the 5w40 better suited for warmer ones."
I use 40 until Winter then I switch to 30.
