Golf R oil weight

The owners manual states that 5W-30 or 5W-40 can be used but the sticker in engine compartment states 5W-30. I’m a new owner of a 2019 R so I found that to be interesting. I’m planning on using 5W-30 since two places note 5W-30. Does anyone use 5W-40?

Thanks for the feedback. Do any of you have this sticker in your engine compartment?

I’ve decided to go with 0w 30 synthetic oil. Mobil 1 makes one for a reasonable price in a 5 qt jug. However, I don’t see anywhere that it has VW 504 00 certification/standard. I’ve used Mobil 1 for years. It relatively cheap compared to Motul. Does it matter if it‘s not officially VW 504 00?
I went to my local dealer and a service tech told me they use Castrol edge professional OE 5W-40. This oil is VW 501 01/502 00/505 00 based on my research.

I finally decided to get Pennzoil 0W30 Euro LX which is one of the few VW 504 00 oils.

Have you seen this see UOA of this exact oil (and others) for a GOLF R?

Thanks for sharing. Seems the car did not like the Castrol 0w40 if I read it right. Other than higher Boron, it seems the Pennzoil did a good job. I wonder if the results would be different after using the thinner 0w30 oil in the summer.
I have a 2019, I have the 0w30 VW504 00 sticker

on the VW.ca site for the maintenance schedule:

-Castrol EDGE Professional oil change 0W20 SYNTEC
Follow the sticker.
