A girl friend's car got a nice sized dent on the front bumper, and I'm trying to help her out. Can anyone suggest a good body shop in the Boulder area? I know there's a bunch of dub's out there! Thanks a tonne.

Sorry I can't help, just thouht I'd give a shout-out to you. (And a free bump). I live in Boulder and got my GTI in September so I haven't had to look into a body shop yet, thank god!

This is either a reply to MrFrostie or a shameless bump.

Speaking of Colorado....
Have you ever driven your car to the top or Mt. Evans? How's the engine perform at 14,000 feet?

I'm curious too. I took my 1999 Integra GS-R up to the top. Got pretty wheezy around 12,500 to the top.

Have you tried posting this in the Rocky Mountain forum? Might give that a try.

About the mountains.....I'm not sure. I haven't been up there yet with it (at least that high). But I will tell you what I've heard. I've heard that a engine with a turbo doesn't suffer nearly as bad as an NA car. I was told this is because the turbo compresses the air to the same relative pressure it would at sea-level. However, I heard that pressure is relative and the ambient air at sea level is store more dense than the air at 14,000 feet.

So I'm not entirely sure how it would behave. I guess that is an excuse for me to do it!!

heh .. in boulder you wont find anyone that works on cars. ive seen a few shops and ill tell ya .. haha they look like crap.
i say COMMUTE to denver. There is a shop here, called Diamond Auto. They are by far the baddest painters i have ever seen. They can bust out a factory Candy Apple on a 1990 Ferrari Testorossa .. and damn lemme tell ya it looks flawless.
but then again thats a paint shop and im sure they do body work as well. is it chipped by chance? ever considered Paintless Dent repair?

That's my understanding too. I'm looking forward to my 180 1.8T! My Acura lost about 25HP when I moved to Denver!
Still fun, but SIGNIFICANT drop in power.

My mother had her NB repaired at Abra Autobody in Wheat Ridge. There is also an Abra Autobody in Westminster (which would be closer to your friend in Boulder).

Go to Foreign Auto Body LTD in Denver on 700 South Monaco Parkway. They do a ton of VW work. I did $5k of damage to my front end and it looked like new when they finished with it and they debadged my trunk emblems for free. Get it in there before we get a big snow and everyone else is lined up with wrecked cars though, they get busy fast.
As far as driving at altitude, I take my GLX snowboarding every weekend and it climbs the passes just fine. Even made it all the way from Denver to Glenwood Springs (over two 10,000 ft passes) in 5th gear without dropping below 65. Try that in a Honda.
