I need a tranny and I'm gonna go with a 4k with a taller 5th(.76 maybe .80). I've shopped a bit and didn't find any real "good" prices, this $hit is $$$. Kraftswerk want ~$800 for that tranny (+shipping +tax, and I dont even know if my core is good). There's a place called "Transmissions West" out here in Torrance CA, they want almost the same amount for the same 4k w/ a .76 5th but I don't get the 2 year warranty (i dont think) and it's probably not somebody as experienced as Sean at Kraftswerk doing the job. Does anybody know of any other options I might have in this? or even post some reassurance that if I pay for a Kraftswerk I'll be very satisfied if anybody has done business with them...thanks

poke around your local picknpull. I found my 9A for $50 as-is. 4K are a little more rare, but you can still find em. Or, you could start with a 9A and order a new ring/pinion (I've seen a place selling those for $125).
Actually, I have a 4K in pieces in my garage, it's got a baked 5th(which you wanna replace anyway) and some chips on the pinion, and an epoxied hole in the bellhousing, but it worked before I took it apart.
What's it worth to ya?
