I really need to change my wiper blades. They haven't been changed for over a year. What's a good brand?

In the past I have had good experience with Bosch Microedge XL, but they are expensive and I only tried them on other cars.

a beginner's question: How often should one replace wipers? (every 6 mos, 1 yr, 2yrs, etc?)

Bosch
Change them when they start losing their flexibility -- at least every 6 months.

The OE inserts are Bosch...Clean the wiping edge with Windex everytime you clean the car. My car is 15 months old with 32K on it - original inserts...

Wrong....
OE blades are actually from a company named SWF/Valeo.
Coming soon will be an OE replacement blade called "SmartBlade". It features a wear indicator ( a green dot that turns yellow when worn out). VW Driver magazine will have more infomation soon.
This blade is actually available now in Meijer, Murray's, NTB, ACE stores if you live in the Midwest.
