I have extensive experience using not only GoPro, but also ContourHD. Spend the money and get a ContourHD. Great high quality wide angle shots. You can see a comparison of the two here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYk8YEwsAPs
Some people say they don't like the sound quality on the ContourHD, however with most of the time the type of footage one would capture with a Contour, you'd usually use music for anyways (roadtrips, on car action shots, etc.)

Happy to help. But yeah, if you're looking for quality sound recording, you'll be hard pressed finding a quality product when looking at these small "bullet" cams. For the show, we use a standalone mic. You probably don't want to get that crazy with it, but the wind really does a number on the integrated mics on the smaller cameras.
