I was out shopping all over LI yesterday and was stopped by three different people who commented about my lovely variant.
Each of them specifically remarked how the chrome really adds a "gorgeous" touch (yes, two of them said gorgeous!) to the car. All were driving SUVs, and looked longingly at my car. (Mercedes, Lexus and a Japanese thing). And TWO were men.

I waited to get the 01.5 so I could get the chrome and am so happy I did. I think it looks particluarly hot with the darker colors. I saw a black one the other day and it was awesome.
Long Live Chrome on B5s!!!

You'll get a 50/50 split on the likeability of chrome. For some reason it does look good on the Variant.
I do think it brought a little bling-bling to the new Passat, but I wish VW used it sparingly on the sedan, and only around the windows......... and not around the beltline.
But Passat sales are up.......... so what do I know?

Congrats on the new car Karyn:
My fiancee and I were ready to cut a deal on a B5 when she saw the pics of the new B5.5 with the chrome. I am also one of the few who like the chrome. I was actually hoping the fully loaded 4Mo GLX Variant we bought came with chrome roof racks like their Audi cousins...

The chrome looks especially nice on blue anthracite. Everyone has been "wowed" by the overall looks of my car.

The chrome looks especially nice on colors that show off the chrome without making it glare too much. Black reveals the chrome accents most, of course, but the chrome still looks fairly good even on black.

ok I used to be 100% anti chrome i.e. B5.5 but it's growing on me.
