85 Golf "Westmoreland"

So, this'll be a very lo-cost car as a daily driver.
Original old style with brown(!!) interior

But still, loving the mk2s, had to have one again. And for 330USD
a 94500km, 1.6 75hp with defect carburator, steering-aid
, tectyl
treatment, a bit of clearcoat missing...this will be the perfect student
starting point for making some insurance bonus (finally...) and fettling
with VAG again... Delivering stock Octavias isn't cutting the mustard in the long run.

Some plans are made long since. But I don't bother bragging about
that, since I have no idea on my student economy for the summer, or
what it'll end up as

So, what do you 'vortex-heads think?

Probably not too known to you fellas in the US, this is the tiny
1.6 EZ carburettor 75hp (wow!) trackday killer...

A bit cleaning up to do when I've gotten summer hollidays.

And yeeees.. The proper old-style BROWN interior featuring the 4 speed
(sadly not a dogshift) 'box. But actually, it's kinda cool in it's own way.
Seats had covers since new.

From my previous KR 16V I KNOW the reverse 'rail' and the shiftlever plasticball is probably broken, so I just went for the uniball kit from TSR Performance to begin with...

Well thank you!
I toy'ed with the thought of those baseballseats from Audi TT, but really... The more I look at this car, I just want to go OEM+. Haven't thought about the small console as rare, have to think a bit more about this, I'm having a spare one from a butchered GL I had once.
I REALLY DO NOT want to wreck the car with aftermarket parts else than fixing this car up. So, no big doors, big bumpers etc. I'm going to bin the quad round grille though. But 15" wheels and a rigid 60/40 drop will do.
Even the original stereo, I'm thinking of keeping it for the hell of it, building a new standard Pioneer headunit in the glovecompartment or something, an NO drilling holes in the doorcards here!

Not sure! I bought this car unseen.
Just had to have it!
But isn't the Cs with all black bumpers, and CLs chrome?

Ah OK, have to check with the norwegian man-in-charge for vw-products then... He really knows all this stuff http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
Dubby the Clown:
yes I know, but this is what I would consider a FINE example for the cheap buys in sub-1 US grand, as they salting the roads over here PRETTY much. As far as I know, it's only the arches thats having it so far, as the bottom of the car is tectyl and oil prepped.
So, for the what the car cost me, it is a most approved amount of rust.

So, good people of the Vortex, my next mission will be to lower this brown bastard...but I havn't got any clue on what to get!
Can't se any fault in having a rigid suspension on this one either, but I'm REALLY insecure on grade of drop. 60/40? 40/40? Or DO I NEED a complete set of coilovers? My one concern is that a coilover kit will not me comfortable enough, travelling 550km for going home on hollidays, I can't stand a superstiff setup.
- want to see a even spacing between the tire and arch in front and at the rear. This leads me to the fact that a 60/40 drop is most likly to achieve it.
- keep as much comfort as possible.
Though about red Konis and Eibach springs lowering 35-40/30-40 as they claim themself.
Anyone with pics of a 40/40, 60/40 drop on 15s, feel free to post for inspiration!

Re: (WAUOla)

So, ended up with a set of red Konis and Eibach springs. Very happy with the setup of the springs. Sadly, the old geezer having the car before me spent as little money as possible on the car. Result; there were integrated KYB front suspension, not allowing for a Koni swap...

Car was "abandoned" at home, while I started my studies for the autumn, put I was to pick it up and drive it up where I'm now residing after the annual VW - Audi Club Norwegen trackday event. Sadly - getting new GoodYear HydraGrips on GTI 14" steelies and other maintenance-preps friday - some geezer backed his 60 TONNES ENTREPRENEUR-CRANE into the Westyfront.
Luckily, he "only" shaved my front bumper and pushed in the grille, screwing up passengerside fender. Damages taxed to approx $3500 (depending on the days currency..
) and insurance is taking a bloody long time.
But a few hours at my Skoda-workplace, the temp sollution was done.

Anyways, FINALLY gotten my new wheels! .. or rims it might should have said. German Felgen-webshops were nice on asking of price and shipping, but whene asking for payment details they all went silent

Having the norwegian winter over here any minute, I don't bother mounting a set of 195/50s or 195/45s on these babies anytime soon...

Erreeee... btw, disregard this.
Due the heavy salting of our roads during winter, the car would look like $h1t in notime.
Thinking of getting a VW Passat typ 35i stationwagon as a new dailydriver (i really don't drive daily anyhow..).
Preferrably in grey, dark blue or black.

(You guys can see more pics from annual VW-Audi meeting at http://www.ableitet.no -> Media in menu .. oh yeah, it's in norwegian, but you'll get there..

Re: (WAUOla)

Well, gotten the new DD... A fair bit of rust in doors etc, but it'll do! Full servicehistory from 1991 came with it.

Was out doing some shots the other day, just to do the firs acuaintance with the new dSLR.

Now, does anyone know a shop that sells black/clear taillights? (NOT crystal ones, but as on the orange dutch "FSI" one i.e.)
