Ok. So on the way into work, the mfa indicator went blank and some odd indicator lit up. It's not a check engine light, it looks different. It is a yellow warning light, looks almost like it's pointing to the gas cap. Anyway, this sucks
Also, the brake light doesn't light up anymore either when I pull up the e-brake.
Damn. I just spent mad loot on this car...
Well, the pdi guy at my dealership is looking into it...basically telling me that they don't have any info on my car just yet. I hope it's drivable...anyone know what the problem might be?

a picture is worth a thousand words

take a pic of the warning and post it so we can see (help) to identify it. If it's yellow (this is a good sign) as it's warning and not red. Also the image (might) be in the owners manual
Hope everything checks out ok

Re: a picture is worth a thousand words (TTigg)

I don't have a camera on me...it is located below where the low gas warning light would be. Wierd thing is...the brake light doesn't illuminate now when I pull the ebrake up.
Good to know it's a warning if yellow...the icon is not listed in the owners manual anywhere!
I just hope this isn't a bad omen...the pdi guy is telling me there is nothing in the system about the car...he's checking to see if it's a defective gas cap for now.

From what I can tell, it may be the cluster. From what I have beeb told, they are not gonna be available until they have produced all the cars.
Why me? I know I'm nit picking...but why me?

It means your gas cap or filler door is loose/open. Happened to me then went off after I retightened the cap. Good luck. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Just had my first problem today.
Left tail light is out

Weird...my left tail light went out about 2 days after delivery for me. Dealer said it was just a dead bulb.

Re: Got my first problem today (Maddave10)

I got the same indicator last night and it is in fact telling you that it thinks
your gas cap is open. In fact, my MFA was saying "Check Gas Cap"
(This condition used to actually cause a regular check engine light).
I double and triple checked it and my gas cap was closed securely.
I scanned it with VAG-COM and it showed a possible leak in the fuel
vapor return system (of which the gas cap is part of).
I cleared the code, and I'll see if the light comes back.

This isn't just a VW issue. My Lexus did the same thing, but it was the "check engine" indicator. After removing and replacing the gas cap, the indicator would reset after a couple of restarts of the engine.
At least we know the system functions........and be glad we have a specific trouble light indicator for the "cause".

I had a cluster replaced on mine last Friday. I had to wait a little over a week for it - but my tech did a good job, No pain - no foul! All is good in R-32 land! Stuff happens, and I don't have "the fear" It is a car, and Jesus didn't build it - just some humans and robots!!!!

Ian. where can you buy a good VAG-COM? How is the code "cleared"? Do you use the VAG-COM to do it?

TA This is where it can be purchased. Since the OBDII is a standardization of diagnostics, the codes should be standardized as well. I do not for sure. Contact ross tech and they would give you all the answers you need, I'm sure.
