Its so hawt. and my heater cable is stuck on luke warm air. Been putting it off for awhile, but its now the weekend goal.
and ill fix the radio's cage while im in there.

Staying busy with work. But was able to get the car dropped off, and have a new window seal installed.
It was leaking right onto the fuse box.

I still have complete Euro headlight setups.selling complete only, not SplittIng.

Found the missing nuts for the taillights. Cleaned up and replaced a taillight seal.
Along with new Bosch wiper blades.

Getting her ready for the rain.


Current goals:

Rear brakes
CV axle boot
fix horn
e-brake cable

Future goals:
*shrugs* A/F gauge & a Front mount would be dope.

Currently getting that done before i move. sucks i wont be near the shop anymore, but honestly. Its really "done" at this point. Minus radio stuff, everything has been repaired, replaced. The only thing i can actually think of that is wrong - door light switches dont work anymore.
Otherwise she has become a very dependable daily driver.

Been a long ass journey.

Mini update;

looks like the heater control in the dash is a bit worst than i thought. Will have to replace that at some point.
I do have heat again though, will be nice for the winter.

The heater cable was kinking the brake booster hose as well. Replaced that, and wow. Brakes are way better now.
New pads in the rear help too lol.

Feels strange to have my ebrake cable not insanely short. Got a custom one to put in, so the length was correct. 16v cables are really abit too short.

Moved into a new place.

fuel/water temp gauge isnt working.
driver side door leaks badly.

and headlights are annoying me, pointed down at the ground. Need an adjustment.

AEM Gauge is taunting me.


Calling a local German shop for a quote this week.



Get some work done, and have it ready for spring.

It really has been a mechanically strong car. Just 30+ Year old **** always breaks, but most of it has been replaced at this point. Few more things.

Outside of that... Id really love to get the paint cleaned up. Let a pro hit it with a wheel. Shall see.

June 19 Update;


Figured out the turn signal issue - looks like due to leaks in the trunk area. The connections were just corroded.
Waiting on some contact cleaner, and ill clean up both taillight connectors.

Headlights got adjusted

performed a Rad pressure test - passed

Passed DEQ. Took 4 attempts but woo-hoo.

Fast lane german tuning in Boring Oregon worked their magic and wow.
so much more power. Its pretty unreal how much bottom end power was just there waiting.

Problems that need attention;

Driver side door leaks.

Carpet needs to be recleaned.




Stuff id like to get done this summer;

AEM A/F Gauge... I know. its been on the todo list for ever. I got a quote from fast lane, just need to pull the trigger.

Engine management protection of some kind with the power upgrades.

Install a new amp/sub.

Update from last night's work;


Drivers side door striker pin's rubber bushing is cracked, and door isnt opening till the very end of the pull.

So i snagged the last MK1Engineering pins. They were right, nobody makes a decent replacement. They are all overpriced.
Hopefully this bushingless striker pin does the job.



Front grill clip finally broke all the way. Got a new one and a few spares on the way.


Trying to keep up them motivation, get some work done.


Will be refurbishing another set of taillights - and getting some new bulbs. God knows how old they are.

The problem has been wanting to fix issues before spending money on "unneeded" things. Yep they are really nice.

Everytime i get some extra money or time. Something else happens.

Like having to get the car to pass DEQ + new tags this month. Could have gone to other things.

Small update:

Oil pressure gauge has never worked, having them take a look at it.

Clutch cable is wrecked from a intake hose clamp - forgot about that. Time to replace that and move the clamp out of the way.
and will be having the powerrrrr added back in.

also derusted/cleaned the battery terminals bolts.


Another thing that comes to mind is. The front wheel spacers are 8mm.
Its not awful but id love to push out the rears 5mm. Give it a more flush look.

One last thing worth noting:

The engine is so close to the passenger side frame rail.
They (hillside) did make some clearance, but its vibrating the car pretty bad lately.

Fuses are getting wiggled out. Kind of annoying. Could be from the poly mount perhaps?

Might have to get out the BFH.

Wow these... so much better.

I think my pass side door is sagging a bit. These pins are long, and maybe .010 of an inch too long. Hitting the paint on that door only.

The pin on the pass side was just wrecked. So i swapped over the driver side one to the pass side.
Pass side door shuts decently now, maybe even better than before.
Being i never use that door... likely wont get around to that until we redo door seals. Then its why not, already there.



driver side door... man its oddly satisfying. It shuts so damn smoothly now.



Got in new brass based bulbs for the turn signals. Swapped out the rears.

Doing the fronts are going to suck, and its too hot outside to deal with it atm.

Striker pin update;

Reached out to mk1 engineering last night. Quickly got back to me and said to measure the two pins, let him know. Sounds like he will help out if the pin's tolerance was off. If not, its a door alignment issue and thats on me.

Door update part 2;

Both vent window seal have shrunk up about 1/16" & Passenger outer scraper seal has moss growing on it....

Passenger side door has a few rust bubbles :/

Trunk lid doesn't appear to seal fully? I can see light coming in, when it rains hard. Water is getting into the trunk.
It wasnt so bad parked on a flat surface. Might just be a old/wrong seal used.

Both Door inner seal is super trashed. Likely originals.


Likely have to just do a full door seal kit. Lamezors.
Thats like $400 in parts.

And the AEM gauge gets shafted again lol.


Front Window has a new seal and is good.
Rear and side windows are maybe 10-12 years old? Decent shape.

The doors seals are in bad shape, they must get replaced before the rain comes back.

Whats new;


Forgot i needed 1157's for the front bulbs. Just ordered a set.
Along with some electrical grease. I know the brass wont last long in this rain + old seals.

Tune up + new clutch got pushed to this coming Friday.

and the grille clips shipped apparently. Those were in bad shape when i got it, surprised they lasted this long.

Note: Turn signals are so much brighter now, that we switched to the brass base. Yay for safety and legal issues being fixed.

Yep signals are still working great. Glad that's holding up.
Its been an on going issue from day 1.

Greased up the rears, waiting on the 1157's for the fronts to show up.

Going in for a tune up in the morning.

along with fixing the oil pressure gauge, if possible.
And new clutch cable.



Then its saving back up to redo the window/door seals before the fall rain hits.
