I finally found a manufacturer who is making phenolic spacers for our G60 engines. I called them and they said they would give us a group buy price of $59 for 10-25, or $49 for 26-50, or $40 if we get 51 or more. The normal price they charge is $69.95 + shipping. They said they would ship for free on a bulk order as well, which would save another $10 ea. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
The kit includes all the washers, bolts, etc needed to do the job. I'm getting a couple myself. Anyone else want to get on-board to get the cost down?

The part can be found here: http://hallmotorsports.com
Cool deal,

Re: Group Buy - Intake Manifold Insulators (ccaswell)

Is this like a thick gasket between the head and the inlet manifold to get inlet air temps down?
If so, how thick is it, what material etc?
Hp gains? Temp reduction?
I would be interested if it is the right stuff.

Re: Group Buy - Intake Manifold Insulators (CorradoFANATIC)

Just checked out the site, looks ok.
(EDIT: SORRY my math was way off here.)
You should get people from all the forums that have the cars that these spacers fit, so you get more people.

someone may want to suggest to him to change the website. its a little bit of a shock when you see HMS in big letters at the top of the page. little too close to the dreaded HSM.

I'm interested in this also. However, I'm just a little concerned about the fitment. If the gasket is thicker (3/8 in is THICK!!). Then I'm not sure if the two braces that go from the Intake Manifold to the valve cover (where the ISV clips on) will fit.
Without those braces, with the engine rocking back and forth, a potential intake leak could develop, no?
Also, since the intake is closer to the firewall, wouldn't it have more of a chance of hitting it on hard shifts?
I'm not being skeptical, just being cautious...If the braces fit well, and there are no chance of intake leaks, or other engine-destroying possibilities, then I'm interested for sure.... http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

i've been running my motor without those braces for a year now, because the audi intake i have doesn't work with them. i've had NO problems thus far, and the car makes a lot of power. as long as everything is torqued to spec, there is not enough weight on the intake to cause a leak. you should be all set. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

I know you all are talking about dropping heat to make HP, but what about the extra enght to the runners? Think it'll do anything for the torque?
There is another company that makes a product just like this... advertises in EC... Forgot the name tho.

Re: Group Buy - Intake Manifold Insulators (Dieder)

I've done some simple math on this.
It seemes that this could give you gains of 3-5% more hp with a warm engine when travelling slow, plus you wont heat soak nearly as much.
I am fairly interested.

What are you guys talking about? There are insulators for the braces in the kit.
Taken from the site: "The kit includes a 3/8" phenolic insulator, two valvecover bracket insulators, eight extended-length mounting bolts, and installation instructions"

Dieder, did you take that pic? Is there any chance you could take another with a ruler or something in the picture to provide scale? Thanks for the pic. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
3-5% Hp increase. 6-9 HP. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif That would be real nice. We will see at the dyno.

quote:

Good work putting this together. Can you find out the gasket dimensions. I would like to see if I could buy one then gasket match it to my 5000 manifold.

I will see if he can get me a better photo with dimentions. The main thing for clearance he said is the gap between the intake and exhaust manifolds. I'll ask about the 5000 the next time I call.
