GTI Order Time

Quick question to those that ordered a GTI in the past year or so...
About how long did it take from the point or ordering to get your car? (yes I know I'm impatient)
My dealer said anywhere from 3-8 weeks, but this girl i was talking to yesterday told me it took 10 weeks for hers to arrive. I know it depends on the stock at the distributor and the configuration you choose... I just wanted to get a general idea.

It really depends. Before I got my A4, I had a New Beetle. I ordered that car and it took almost three months to come in. If the car you want already exists and is not spoken for yet, naturally the wait time will be shorter. However, should the order actually have to be placed with the factory, expect wait times in excess of 8 weeks. My order was directly placed with the factory and as I said, it took 3 months for the car to arrive at the dealer. The same is true with my A4. I ordered it on December 11, 2000 and I took delivery on March 14, 2001.

I ordered my 2002 1.8T GTI (Rave Green, Beige leather, Tiptronic, no luxury package) on Oct. 22nd. Dealer said by the time it gets into the VW "pipeline" it should be due for assembly in January, then shipping it from Brazil to Canada will take another 6 weeks. So I expect it sometime in March (total = 4-5 months).

yikes!!!
I ordered mine august 24th and it supposedly went into production october 10th... I hope mine gets here before march!!!

I was one of the first to get a 2001 GTI GLX VR6 w/17"Sports Suspension in my area (Nov-Dec 2000)...It took my salesman 10days to locate and deliver my car!

I ordered mine around the first of august and it arrived 1 1/2 weeks ago. This was good I thought cause it wasnt supposed to arrive until mid december. Now I just have to wait till I get back from college to pick it up. only 15 more days!!
