GTI VR6 Owners - What kind of tires?

I was going to post this in the wheel and tire forum, but that forum seems too bias towards TireRacks inventory. I'm more interested in hearing from some owners- I have a 97 GTI VR6, the front tires have about 30,000 miles on them, the rear has 60,000 (original). All are stock Goodyear Eagles. I'd like to upgrade the tires since they are due for replacement. What tires are you running and how do you like it? I'd like something a bit more sporting than the Eagles, but with decent tread wear. Thanks!

im using bridgestone potenza re730's at the moment. they grip great as far as i can tell.

Right now I have Dunlop SP Sport 5000s (they were on the car when I bought it) on my 15" stockies...they seem pretty good, and look alright for "stock-looking" tires http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

I am running Kumho Ecsta supra 512's and for the money (70$ ea) they are a great bargain. If you plan on burnin through tires (and you will) these are the ones to get.... very good wet and snow traction and adequate grip for the daily hard run to and from work.

I agree with the Kuhmos. I have them, and i had the bridgestones. to be honest i like the kuhmos better, i got mine off tire rack for 60 bucks ea

They also have a good treadwear rating

Hey VR6charlie. I plan on being in New Orleans for a Hot Import Nights show on May 4. No. I am not going for the cars but the Asian women and the fun to be had in N.O. Maybe I'll see you and your ride there.

Toyo Proxy T 1S Tires. Wicked tread pattern. Best ones from Toyo.

Kumhos definatly, I replace my yoko's with these and not only saved money but gained grip

Michelin Pilot XGTZ4s...These are the sweetest tires on earth! You can't beat the ride & durability of a Michelin tire.

Toyo's for sure. I've got the T1S Proxies as well and I've never driven on anything like them (especially because it rains alot here too)
