any particular year that have known issues? any year MK3 GTI VR6's to avoid? or prefer?
what are some common problems?

Coilpack issues, timing chains needs to be replaced at higher mileages, the coolant crack pipe goes, window regulators are horrendous and always seem to break
it'd be a good idea to find one with low miles.
95's are better for NA mods, especially in cali, 96 and up are better for FI

somebody just posted something about 98 and up VRs that they
werent good IDK,if you like you buy if you love youd fix

i heard the '98+ had fixed lots of electronical issues
im just asking around to see people's thoughts about different years
