H&R Race springs w/ Bilstein HD's= Problem?

628 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  VWGolferIII
I've got a '92 Jetta with the Shine Real Street Suspension setup. I want to go lower. I've asked around, and many tell me if I switch to lowering springs with my HD's, I won't have any problems. Is this true? No worries of bottoming out or anything? I just want to make sure I don't damage my Bilsteins.
I've got a line on a set of new H&R Race springs for cheap, but I don't want to spend more $$$ on new shocks and struts.
Thanks
John

I got a 97 Jetta GLX w/ Bilstein HD's and Neuspeed Sofsport and my bilsteins blew after 4k miles. I changed for the sports and so far no problems.

The HDs are not designed to be lowered more than an inch or so...you would definately need the sports.

That's what I thought. How hard are Bilsteins to get warrantied?

Although there not designed for it I have seen many with lowering springs on the HD's with no problems. Not extreme drop but >1.5"ish.
I have the e-mail of a guy with the H&R Race/Bilstein HD setup on his Jetta. He may be able to offer a little more insight. Also know of a guy with the HD's and Eibach Sportlines which is like a 2" drop.
