H&R SPORT OR RACE SPRINGS?

Getting ready to lower my jetta and was wondering which spring I should use. I am planning on running 235/4517 and I want the fender to be about a 1/4 or so from the tire. Pics of each would help.
Thanks David

Are you concerned about ride quality at all? Sport is bearable, but Race is harsh in my opinion unless you track your car or are solely concerned about looks.
BTW, Sports drop the front 1.5 and rear 1.4 inches. I think the Races do 2.0 and 1.5 inches f/r, not 100% sure though.

i agree. the race springs are real stiff for everyday use.
the sport springs are the way to go if you want to get rid of the wheel-well gap and maintain a sane amount of comfort.

I have sport on bilstein shocks and the ride is perfect! It's stiff, low enough to hide wheel gap, but not too low that you can't go over a speed bump, and not bouncy at all. No sway bar rubbing on drive shaft, ect. I chose sport over race becuase race is just too damn low for potholes, speed bumps, crappy roads, etc. Plus, ride comfort is great! http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
It's best to chage shocks at the same time too, You can fuly compress the wussy stock shocks with your hands.

Hmm... I haven't ridden a mk4 with H&R race springs setup but planning to eventually go with those. Didn't realize they would be that stiff, but I'll be willing to sacrifice some ride comfort for more track performance.
Re: H&R SPORT OR RACE SPRINGS? (qck18t)

you really dont want race springs... they ride like total poop. if you wanna go low you should go for some coilovers.
Re: H&R SPORT OR RACE SPRINGS? (qck18t)

Notice all the people who don't have race springs say they ride too harsh. Have they ever had race springs on their car? Most have not. Have they ridden in cars with race springs? Again, probably not. People on here with race springs and konis or bilsteins will tell you they love the way their cars handle and that it is not too harsh for daily driving. In my opinion, Sport springs don't even look like the car is lowered that much at all. My friend with a MK3 Jetta has Neuspeed Sports and regrets it, wishing he had gone race. As long as you upgrade shocks, you'll be fine. And your car will look a lot meaner too. Notice the end of my sig. Go RACE and take em in the turns.

I will vouch for a solid ride on race springs. I just went from sport to race, and I actually like it better.

Assuming a little too much here aren't we?
Re: H&R SPORT OR RACE SPRINGS? (VDUBBINDizzy)

I have Neuspeed Sports on Bilstein Sports and love them...people always ask why I bought race cause they look so slammed. Sports are low even for everyday los angeles drving. Race are too low for my needs but if thats what you want then all the power to ya! ciao

I have ridden in both race and sport and my old set-up was the sport set-up. Race is too harsh for everyday driving in my opinion (without your mouthguards anyhow). This is the sport drop here:

It was very comfy even when I drove my mom around.

I have since switched to a broken front shock Weitec 50mm kit that DUBteknic sold me. Thanks for ripping me off and I hope everyone reads not to buy from you....

If I'm ever in VA, I'll make sure to look you up....
