I bought a set of headlights from a 2001 golf. I joey modded them and I plan to put them on my 2003 GTI. I assume that they fit? And I'm about to buy some H1's and I was wondering if they fit either the joey modded lights or the lights that are currently on my car (OEM) or both or neither. Thanks.

do you have e-codes?
Stock lights use H7 for both low and high

For A4 Golfs/GTIs, US spec are H7 all over and Euros are H7 low, H1 high.

Osram Silverstars are better than Sylvania Silverstars. Same company, similar names, different products:

Hey man,
Honestly,
There are a few bulbs out there that claim to put out more light but really it's not that noticeable. Unless you go to a higher wattage, then you've got to worry about glare, burning harnesses, and melting your headlight.
Just a thought.

Yes you can get them there. I bought the "H1 Plus 50" for my that Stern sells for my uber-rare Hella FF 7" round lamps and it is an Osram Silverstar, so I assume it's the same case with the H7 Plus 50 being an Osram Silverstar too. I didn't notice a huge difference actually, but it's a good bulb nonetheless...certainly nothing wrong with it. It's not whiter in appearance than the Sylvania (which is a mildly coated bulb). It's just a really high quality halogen clear bulb. I guess I'd have to pop in a standard 55W H1 again in one of my lights and compare at the same time to really say if the Plus 50 is obviously brighter or not.
Also note that he sells a 65W of the H7 as well. Maybe you want to consider that instead? That's a mild wattage increase. Can't say for sure if you need a relay harness for that (it's not like it's 80W or 100W) though.
