i was backing up in a parking lot out of a space, and i go to pull the shifter out of reverse, and it doesnt move. i pull and wiggle and it just stays put in reverse. now i try again with both hands to try and get my car out of reverse, i pulled too hard, and i heard a terrible breaking sound. pic related, tryed to get some decent shots of the broken shifter piece.
whats the piece i broke called?
can i buy it online? or do i have to find a used one?
thanks !

Re: HALP! G60 broken shifter =[ (pocdragon)

I broke on of those a few years back on a fomer G60 I owned.
I ended up getting that piece from a donor car that a friend had....
you should check the classifieds, or talk to people who are parting out G60's.
You can try VW, but when I try to get any Corrado info from them, they tend to scracth their heads and say HUH?

Are you sure you can't get it from the dealer? VW has them in stock so mine came overnight (in the UK anyway).

Re: (corradokyd)

I swapped the guts out of my box and put in an assy out of a 96 Passat 2.0 with a 02a trans. The shifter is a little taller (which can be cut) but it is so much tighter than the old box that I now feel sure that I have it in gear.

Re: HALP! G60 broken shifter =[ (pocdragon)

Fixed a shifter situation similar to this (not in a vw) to get out of a bind using some wire that is close to bailing wire. Put the two pieces together and kind of saddle-back wrapped them together and twisted the wire tight.
Works to get you on the road, but not a permanent fix by any means. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Re: FV-QR (wzach)

i can ask a 4th time if you would like
what does NLA mean
dieselgeek is looking for 200$ for a shift kit, and neuspeed wants 500$.
i dont need a short shifter, especially for that kind of cash,
do any places carry just the part i need?
mikki said under ten dollars? that more my price range
links please, thanks
till then i think im going to try some bailing wire (or similar)
