For that obnoxious ticking noise while the clutch is out in neutral on a 1.8t.
Whenever I put the car in neutral and let the clutch out, 1.8ts (at least the ones I've had experience with

) make the most obnoxiously loud ticking noise and I'm sick of it. Has anyone determined the cause of this? DO NOT WANT!

sounds like a ratteling noise? ive drove about 4 different mk4s and none made the noise....
u hang out with a bunch of ppl who cant drive a stick?

the onyl ones i no that make that noise are ones with a lightened flywheel or not an oem one.

makes it sound like a tdi..
i heard it has something to do with the tranny not balancing and weighing correctly and creating an offset... i dunoo tho

This could definitely be it. I have a VR6 clutch and G60 flywheel. Unfortunately the G60 is not coming out, so if it is in fact the problem I guess I'm SOL. Hmm... I'll have to research this a bit further too.

mine sounds like a helicopter at full tilt in a bathroom amplified with the water running...

Haha, yeah sounds about right. The people at the drive-thru always look at me funny when I let the clutch out.

Its a little bit of clutch chatter, its normal, you should hear what a lightened flywheel and race clutch on a VR6 sounds like, its enough to give a woodpecker a headache

flywheel chatter. That's why you should stick with at least a 14 lb. I heard anything less it just gets worse and worse.

Yeah, I'm rocking a 14lb at the moment. I have no plans for going any lighter anytime soon.
