My buddy had an a3 gti with all smoked back tailights, but the right colors still worked when he used brake/turn signals. His MOM ( he's 27 btw) was driving the car and got pulled over and got a ticket for the tails as well as tinted windows, running the autocross tires which the cop said was illegal. Then he had a problem when he put the stock ones on which were like halfed smoked, the cops still said that they were modified, they didn't believe him that they came stock.

as long as there not the blue or green ones I dont think you'll have a problem, Ive been pulled over many times in my GTi and they never said a thing about my tails. (I have m3's btw)

a2vwnick, does your friend live in CA too? they're alot stricter over there, aren't they? Also, does anyone know where I can buy half red/half clears? Different enough for dubbers to notice, but not enough for the oinkers.

yeah if a cop pulls you over if you have smoked/half smoked/ or even clears ( as long as they have the orange turn signal, red brake, pieces inside behind the clear they cant say squat. and if they do get bring it to the judge and show'm that they have them and that they light up that way. and i even think it says on the hella boxes that the clear with the correct color pieces inside ARE legal. i dont remember tho
