Ok i was talking to the guy who is going to port and polish my head. He said he could shave it 0.060" to bring the compression up 1 point. And there would be no valve smacking with my 270 cam. Anyway i want to know what the stock compression is on a 2.0. Also what do you guys think about this? http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
Stock compression for a new engine is 145psi to 189psi--big difference, but that's what the Bentley says. I just did a compression test on my engine with 62,000 miles on it and got 195psi on all cylinders. I'll allow that the compression gauge was a little off. The important thing is that all cylinders are close to each other.
I had 11.3:1 or so on my 94 golf and I had to run 94 or higher octane... I suppose it depends on the chip you're running too. The other thing to watch is that your ignition and cam timing will be off and you will have to get an adjustable Cam gear. I did my compression with a set of TT pistons.

Nah it wasn't fast very fast. Now that I have seen the darkside the only way to get real power is to go forced induction. The A3 is just so heavy. Even with all my mods my 94 only ran mid 15 sec. 1/4 mi.
jettared,
since you've had a compression test done could you tell me where the fuel pump fuse is located ? thanks.

95 jetta 2.0, hi miles, euro cat back, tt chip, kn panel
It is fuse number 17 The acceptable limit is 145 but again you really don't want to see much difference between all the cylinders then you will have rich conditions in some areas.
