Hi all.
I have a 92 Jetta TD. Due to a recent mishap involving a deer I picked up an earler model A2 that has heated seats.
Does the 92 have the wiring in place for the heated seats and just require adding the appropriate switches and relays or are the harnesses different?
How difficult is this?
Is there a way to check the seats (no battery in the donor car, electrical wiring damaged) to make sure they work before I do anything?
Thanks.

Re: Heated seats wiring (dropout)

You may only get answers from other Canadians. US spec cars didnt get heated seats. The schematics for the canadian Jettas with heated seats are in the Bentley manual. As I recall the wiring was pretty simple and I am sure you could easily make your own harness. It is possible that the heated seat harness is separate from the main body harness but I dont know for sure since I have never seen an A2 equipped with them.
You should be able to test the seats with a resistance meter I would bet. I wouldnt try hooking the heat pads up directly to 12v tho without the relay.
