that was my thinking... But I wonder if I should be putting something in place of the core into the heater box. Not that I'll be using the "heater" per'se, but it is kind of nice to have a little fresh air coming through the vents.... the Car will keep a Stock "looking" interior/Dash.... so I don't want to just rip everything out. I was thinking of maybe a small "frame" with a metal screen to act as a leaf/debris catcher

 

gotcha. i ripped the dash out of mine, and the only visible instrument is going to be a tach with a subtle shift light. non a/c heater box was probably only like 7 lbs dry.

i deleted my heater core and re-routed the coolant with about an 18" tube, but now my 84 GTI runs hotter than normal, and seems to get hotter faster. what gives?

why are you guys deleting the Heater cores?
some of the best driving is during the fall months, with those nice 40-50 degree days.

The first year I had my VR6 rabbit together the coolant lines were looped with no heater box at all. It was a very cold winter, no defrost. I eventually did put the heater box back in, but I did look into other options.
I came to a conclusion that If I couldn't find another stock rabbit heater/blower box, I would invest in a Flex-a-lite Mojave heater.

Thats the way to do it, Its pretty pointless to "delete" the heater if your going to leave it in the car.

 

i think its nice to have a heater besides for foggy windows but if you on a long trip and you car starts to over heat. nice way try to keep it cool till you get to a spot you can pull over.
