Re: Heater Core questions (4NFANA_C)

must be a good day for heater cores going out! Mine went out this morning, same thing, fogged up in about 5 seconds, put my windows down and pulled over. Searched the forums a bit and came up with this
http://www.recallwarnings.com/....html
but it seems the general theme is that you are going to get the run around, as most dealerships dont want to deal with it....I'll let you know how my luck is when I call on monday and give them my VIN to see if the recall has been done or if its even one of the VINS that were recalled.

Ouch.... if the recall has already been done I really don't think they're going to replace your heater core again. Sorry to say this but it looks like yer SOL. I hope I'm wrong.

Just bypass it, unless you really need heat. What I did was take the hose coming out from the bottom of the secondary pump, unhooked the end from the heatercore. Then totally removed the tube going from the heatercore to the head. Then loop the hose from the secondary pump upto the head and hook it on. Its like doin the heater core and TB bypass all in one. Also you need to cut off the small hose coming from the radiator right where it Ts into that other hose by the reservoir, then just stick it right on so the tube runs from reservoir over the the upper rad hose. It looks clean and seems to work fine. I also showed this to my mechanic who has a 500+whp jetta and he does it on his car, so it works. Ill try to find a pic to explain better

AHHHHH the beauty of living in the tropics.... Mine has been bypassed since I bought my car, I don't think I'll ever need heat LOL.

I still have the new core sitting there, someday just to complete the car I'll install it.

Re: Heater Core questions (Eric D)

I called VW of America and they said that inorder for VW to pay for this they would need to contact the product compliance department and make a claim. I've personally made a claim and the dealer now has to evaluate the car to make sure that's the problem.....
I hope they fix it right this time...
