Every once in a while the heater vents will put out cold air - even though the temperature control knob hasn't been moved... if one turns up the dial (to 26 Celsius, for instance), it gets hot... if turned back down to 23, cold air will come out... (2016 Sportwagen... 210,000 km...)

Any hints as to what's going on? There's been no recent loss of coolant...

Maybe your blender door is getting erroneous control signals or the stepper motor gone bad.

Thanks... how to go about troubleshooting? I guess in the short while, I can wait and see if things will clarify... (hopefully as long as it doesn't get stuck on "cold" at this time of the year...)

Scan it and run through the tests that you can with a product like VCDS. Other than that, throw parts at it.
