"heating problems" please help

Got a new MK2 jetta with a leaking heater rad. Hoses were bypassed. I got a new heater box placed the hoses back in place but the coolant doesnt pass through (no heat). Do I need to bleed the system? Should I change the thermostat? Or water pump could be failling on me? Im in montreal and im getting pretty cold in morning. Please help

could be your vent flaps or blockage in the heater matrix.
remove hoses from matrix on firewall and see if you can get a hose flowing through there.
PS: DONT OVER PRESSURE IT WITH THE HOSE - LET IT SQUIRT. a lil bit of restriction is normal
if that checks out, let the car get warm and feel the hoses for heat
