I have the red/clear/clear/red and I never had any problems. As it says in other posts, the cops are more concerned about you having amber turn signals, white reverse lights and red brake lights. They are not DOT approved but my car passed inspection at the VW dealer with no hassle for the lights at all. I also have clear corners and nothing was said aboiut them. Just my 2 cents.
