I fill the rad and from the top rad hose and then fill the rest from the coolant bottle. Then I let the car idle and get up to temp with the coolant bottle cap off. When the t-stat opens coolant will circulate and the air bubbles will come out the bottle. Top off coolant level as needed.

I am seeing coolant coming out of the flange. Do I fill from the rad with the car running and then when I see if coming out I shove the hose on?

Thanks guys I finally had time to work on the car again and all is good. I didn't have to drain it, I basically just poured coolant down the upper rad hose untill it started overflowing and started the car and then all is well.
