When you turn the radio on, it should say "SAFE" in the display. To enter the code, press the MODE and SCAN butons at the same time, and hold them down until "1000" appears in the display. Release the buttons. Don't continue holding them, or press them again - otherwise the radio would consider "1000" to be the code.
Use station buttons 1 through 4 to input the code. Use button 1 to input the first number, 2 for the second, and so on. The first digit will either be blank or 1. The others will be any number 0 through 9.
Once the code is shown in the display, press the MODE and SCAN buttons again until "SAFE" appears in the display. Release the buttons. The radio should then tune in by itself.
