Help...Dealership wants to Charge me $400.00 for...

Dealership wants to Charge me $400.00 for new alarm control unit.
My alarm sets and the doors lock when I use the keys, but if I try to use the keyless entry it dosent work!
They tried reprogramming my keyless remotes and even a couple of there own, but the alarm would just go crazy and not set.
They also told me that the remote unit was not covered under my warranty and the unit alone would cost me about $400.00 dollars with labor.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do?
Should just go and get an new alarm installed from someplace other than the dealership? Or should I just have them do it?......damn!

If i were you, i would get an aftermarket alarm installed since it would cost around the same.

for $400usd, in the equivalent canadian dollars, will get you a pretty good aftermarket alarm here. My friend got his mid-range alarm (quality wise) and a remote starter for $300cnd, which is like 20 american. So I'd say just go aftermarket. Plus you have the choice for extra options and things, that you wouldn't if you just replaced the stock one. Oh well, you decision
