HELP! INTERIOR-

Hey- I've got an MKIII golf. It's got a black exterior and tan interior. I want to make the interior black. What's the best way to go about this, and better yet, the cheapest? I want to do as much as i can w/o an upholstery place doing stuff. What kind of paint do i use on the dash? If anyone has done this...what kind of results do you get? I'm getting new front seats, so that's one thing i don't have to worry about. I'll probably pop wet okole seat covers on the back to cover up that tan. Basically i just want to know what to do on the dashboard and doors. Thanks for helping me out-

a couple things. first off, dash paint is NOT the easiest thing to work with. it's mainly used just for pieces, not the whole dash. secondly, if you don't think you'll need the backseat too often, take it out. easiest way, since you're not looking to reduce the weight (as far as i know) remove just the seat part, and leave the seatbacks. then, get some black carpet and cut it to fit the entire rear area with the seatbacks down. it will cover it up really nice and evenly. not your only option of course, but it's an idea!
Re: HELP! INTERIOR- (ninetyseven)

thanks for your help- so how would i go about changing the dash/door panel cover?
Re: HELP! INTERIOR- (97GolfGl2.0)

get new ones. that's all i could tell you, perhaps you could get lucky and find someone wanting the tan who's willing to trade
trading is good, everyone's happy! if i could get my hands on a set of tan leather seats soon, i would trade with ya! i'd consider selling my seats too. trek seats, like out of a GTi. the bostered ones, really nice. but that's only if i find the tan leather, which is a long shot.
try ebay, the vortex classifieds, or jwelty classifieds...

try finding a few junk yards man. you might be able to find a car like yours with a black dash or black seats

hehe we're all '97 golves in here so far. cute.
Re: HELP! INTERIOR- (zealous_golf)

Well...I've already started this project and soon will be concluding it in about a month. I opted to go with a black/beige interior combo opposed to factory black/gray. ALL parts for this swap were purchased off of fellow Vortexers. I have every part for my swap except for the door panals which I have 3 sources on right now, but lacking the $$ to do so. And I still owe a lil bit more on the seats I bought.
Just a brief run down. Dash, Console, B-Pillar, Door Trim all from a Jetta GLX, Carpet, Kick Panals, Shelf, Shelf Trim, Glove box from a GTI. Other Trim pieces from another GLX I believe. The seats are from a Jetta Trek.

Pagano did what I did, which is buy the pillars and change them with the pillars that are currently in the car. What you're thinking of doing, which is painting the pillars, is a totally different animal. Unless it's done right, the car will look TERRIBLE. And belive me. I know. My car was painted my the previous owner and it came out really disgusting and tacky. I had to spend lots of cash just to get it back to stock. Be careful and good luck! http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
