So far I'm thinking about these colors but I would like to see some pics of these choices on a MK1 or other choices you all think might look good. Does anyone have pics of the TT Grey or know how to photoshop it? I have pics of the stock colors or have seen them in person like the Anthracite Grey but not the others.
Thanx for your help.

Re: Help me choose a color for my MK1 Scirocco (LimeGreen79Rocco)

Whoa, Andre' that's sweet, I luv the burnt orange. We want to use that for the Miata race car on my site. Have been planning that for atleast 2 years. I thought about using a bold color for my car but decided I would go with a very understated and kinda stealthy color so it wouldn't stand out in a crowd or especially when I'm flyin' down the road at warp speed if ya know what I mean. In the past your cars color was my favorite but it is kinda the ultimate loud color next to orange so I guess it got ruled out, besides you got it.
I want to try to be unique, however possible that is. I've already seen an A2 Jetta around here that is Olive non-metallic but it was sweet.

Re: Help me choose a color for my MK1 Scirocco (LimeGreen79Rocco)

I was thinking of that Audi S4 blue for my mk1 also, but i have 15" bbs style deep dish wheels with gold centers, not sure how it would look. The car is an orriginal cirrus gray metallic which i like, but its too plane. I would really like a "hot" color that really sticks out! The problem with any metallic colors on this body style is that the car never really was very metallicy anyway. If you choose a color with too much metallic in it, it might look ****ty. A solid color would be best for the body lines.
This pic is a side view of my mk1.. anyone wanna photoshop the audi s4 color onto the body so i can see what it might look like with the wheels???

Hey, don't hijack my thread. Can you say e-mail.

Andre', really not partial to blue at all. I like the stock Cirrus Grey alot but maybe a new color would be cooler. I would really like to see some photoshoppin' goin' on too.

Which one is Nimbus Grey? The one above is supposed to be Cirrus and that looks like the stock color I was thinking of when I said anthracite grey.

Sorry, didnt mean to "hijack" you thread
Just thought the angle of my car was a good one to do some photoshoppin to check out different colors on any mk1. So lets see some photoshoppin' going on here!

Josh.. winter in vermont has sucked so far... pretty nasty weather snow (good), then rain (bad).. skiing is getting better though. I bought a VR Passat, so that added to the "goodness" of the winter i guess... just cant afford to regester it.
Yes going to Cincy.. Yes going to WAterfest... just cant decide which hotell to stay at in cincy.

Re: Help me choose a color for my MK1 Scirocco (DarkLite13)

I was going to go with the factory Mars Red. I wanted to keep it looking stock even to the point of sourcing a replacement pin-stripe kit for the "S" model.
Point is, I think the car looks so much classier just stock (on the outside). No tint, no fake badges no huge wings. I wanted my car to look like the euro Scirocco GTI. The Mk1 has now reached "classic" status. It would be a shame to paint it all garish pimped colours.
But hey, it's your car.

Re: Help me choose a color for my MK1 Scirocco (A1Rocco)

If you can wake up every day to that color, Nugget Yellow of an 89 Corrado looks killer on the A1 Scirocco. My friend has had his 78 turbo Scirocco yellow for about 5 or 6 years now and it acentuates the sharp angular lines of the car very well. His paint is fading now and he is growing tired of it by now. But it does look good, especially with color coordinated wheel centers and black trim... old school for sure.

I totally agree. I was going to do a silver metallic but my own 55 year old father told me to go for something that would accentuate the lines more, hence the bright green. The early Mk1s had all sorts of somewhat bright colors and they looked great. My thought on fixing up an Mk1 is get a color that accentuates the body lines, make sure the color looks good with black trim, dont put gangly wings/spoilers/skirts on the car that would detract from its lines and drop the car a few inches. Oh yeah, and have some decent rims, no matter the size. I'm starting to wonder how a nice set of 16x8s would work.

Re: Help me choose a color for my MK1 Scirocco (LimeGreen79Rocco)

Lots of good suggestions guys, excellent. My taste, as you may have noticed from my original color choices that I listed, is somewhat understated. TT Grey is now a long shot as it is grey and rainy here too much for that. The light grey/olive non-metallic is a strong possibility and the darker olive metallic is still up there. I feel that the non-metallic colors can really enhance the lines and angles of the A1 chassis cars. Cars with unusual non metallic colors have been quite popular lately and for good reason, they stand out. probably why Audi's TT has that grey. But I have an Indiana Red metallic 80 Scirocco now and had one as a Rabbit before so that's out but I like the metallic on that car. I presently have the factory Gold metallic with a clear coat and it's nice but dated. Not a fan of yellow or blue, too common. I want something unique but very tasteful and undestated.
It is an important consideration for me how the color contrasts with the other parts of the car such as the taillights and trim. Black lookes good with anything so I want a color that looks good with the red/yellow/white of the tails and I will choose a 14" or 15" wheel color that will contrast well. Not interestd in any wheel bigger then that, they must be very lightweight. Dark car/white or silver wheels. Light car/dark or silver wheels. Some light color cars can handle white wheels, it just depends. For example I would never put white wheels on a silver car but I like it on bold colors like orange or lime green or red.

I GOT DIBS ON ANDRE'S RIMS!!!!

I think a set of 16x8s would look WWAAAY better than the 17" ATS, you're completely right. Sell them, immediately. To me.
Do we have a deal?
