I had this car for a long time, sat in the garage for a long time and now it does not start, I thought it would be the battery, but its not. Bought a new battery, and still the car does not turn over. Could someone help me? if this has every happen to you? I was thinking it might be the spark plugs, but im not sure. If someone helps me, I would deeply appreciate it, thank you

Re: Help!! my 1999 Volkswagen Passat 1.8T does not start (Mingkishi)

gone are the simple days of spark + fuel = run.
I am not a vw expert by any means, but there are a million things that could be wrong with it.
Some simple things to check maybe are the fuses. You should check them with a meter if you have one.
Obviously if it doesn't turn over then the relay is not triggering the starter, so you should start there and see if the relay is working properly.
Maybe this would be covered under vw's drive train warranty, might be worth a tow.
